HA'ARETZ (Israeli Newspaper) TEL AVIV July 29, 1998 IBLA First Prize for Gil Garburg The Israeli pianist Gil Garburg won this week the first prize at the International Competition in Ibla, Italy.The prize includes performances with orchestras in Chicago and Milano as well as Carnegie Hall in New York, among others. Gil Garburg, born in 1975, is a student of Prof. Arie Vardi at the Rubin Music Academy in Tel Aviv and at the Musikhochschule in Hannover, Germany. Among the competition he has won: The Rubin Academy Competition in Tel Aviv, the Gorelnik Competition and the Porrino International Competition in Italy. Gil is a permanent winner of the America - Israel Cultural Foundation. Zipi Shohat
